Hi, Has anybody had experience of trying to connect an iPad on 1and1? I spoke to 4 different support consultants there yesterday & each one told me something different! The vsettings they initially provided me with allow you to receive but not send; in the end the last support guy told me to go back to my mobile provider (Apple!!) as they have no knowledge or experience of iPad's! What a laugh! Anybody had similar problems & I guess more importantly, has anybody out there solved them? Any assistance appreciated.

Cheers! John

Same story here. Cancelled the package. Received emails confirming that I cancelled the package (their words). Out of pure coincidence, also happened to also cancel the credit card.

Then I get an over-due notice for a period after cancellation. Had a back-and-forth with them, wherein I got the standard reply that I'd only cancelled the domain, not the package.

I offered to settle with them, by suggesting that I pay to them 1c, which was more than I owed them, and that they pay to me $1000 in compensation of my wasted time and effort.

They've now passed the account (about $29) to their (presumably internal) debt collection unit.

They're not going to get a penny from me, for what amounts to little more that a bullying scam. I'd love to see them take this one to court, because I have so much documentation of my good faith and their bad faith that the judge will laugh. Of course, I know they'll never do so for 29 bucks.

I strongly suggest that anyone looking for domain hosting look to a company other than 1&1.

Hi Chris

Sorry to hear you too have run into problems with 1&1. I definitely wouldn't touch them again. I know of a few people who have domain/hosting issues that have taken an eternity to resolve. Bad business.

Hope you have no problems with moving your domain away from them. Keep me posted :)

I'm in the middle of an unfortunate dns experience with 1&1 in that it's taking over a day to change nameservers from them to that of my web host.. I've dealt with many registrars over the years and have never seen anything like this before - and to think I nearly bought some hosting from them as well! I just hope that they don't make it difficult to move my domain away from them when it's up for renewal as I won't go anywhere near these lot again. Glad you got it sorted in the end.

1and1 make it practically impossible to cancel their services. I mean - you have to sign & fax back a cancellation form to a 'number that is printed on the form' when no such number appears on the form. This in addition to firing a cancellation request email off via a completely separate portal, then wait for a response (which never arrived whrn I first tried 3 months ago) and click on it. The cancellation process is buried away in the FAQs. No simple to select button in the main portal. I've never come across anything so arcane in my life. Avoid these people like the bloody plague. I will always deal with LunarPages in future. They answer support queries instantly, and everthing is manageable online. 1and1 can only keep hold of customers by not letting them cancel. Keep the frick away from them.

I received a reply to my letter(s) and e-mails from 1&1 this morning...via e-mail. It's a pretty lengthy one with the usual FAQ stuff about cancellations and such, but also a couple of apologies thrown in for the confusion and PayPal trying to take money from me when I was told the invoice had been cancelled. She confirmed that the account and the invoice have both been terminated and I will receive a credit note in support of this over the next 3-4 days.

I’m pleased that’s sorted out. I’ll never go anywhere near 1&1 Internet again, though, that’s for certain ;)

LOL! You'll probably be okay as long as you don't try to cancel your contract or a domain with them. In which case I'd be very wary just incase they pull a similar stunt. I know I cancelled long before the invoice was issued. The mixed messages I'm getting from them does not install confidence, that's for sure :?
