Good god, that must have been terrible for you both. And it always tends to happen at the worst possible times, i.e Christmas or the coldest night of the year! You just don't realise how much you rely upon those amenities until they aren't there. The one thing I was so looking forward to, other than the heating going on, was having a nice hot shower! I don't think I could have coped with another 14 hours of not having one!

If it had gone on much longer I think we'd have just stayed at my Mum and Dad's place but you're right, home insurance should get us a hotel room for the night if this sort of thing should happen again ;)

I can imagine no electricity is 100 times worse than no gas/boiler, but I can completely sympathise after we spent 10 days with no boiler ie. no heating or hot water, a week before Christmas!

It's a shame house insurance doesn't extend to a hotel room when your services are knocked out!

HAHA no, no memory cards were harmed by snapping us looking "lovely" last night  I compared myself to a bag lady. My other half was wearing my purple and pink snow hat with the platts on the ears, so I giggled quietly a few times when I rolled over to see him snoozing happily in that, LOL!

But, better to be looking silly and warm than pretty as a picture and cold, hehe.

Thanks for the UPS info. I'll look into that.

Please tell me you snapped a photo when you were all bundled up. I imagine you looked quite silly.

As for your iMac, you should look into getting a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply).
