Hi Andrew. Yes, I agree. When we get more content in the iTunes TV Shows section (and eventually movie rentals) then Apple TV will be even more appealing. I'll be right behind you in that queue ;)

Hi Kenneth. Yeah, the ease of buying movies and TV shows is seriously going to test my self-control. And I totally agree about buying a hard copy of a movie/show if you really like it, otherwise renting is definitely a better and cheaper alternative.

I bought the Apple TV on last Friday and I rented 3 movies already. Similar to buying a song from iTunes, it's so easy and pretty much 'pressing the buy button w/o thinking', which can be very dangerous.

If I really like the movie/TV shows, I will buy a hard copy, otherwise renting makes more sense.

I tried Handbrake 0.9.2's Apple TV preset on a standard def DVD. It just doesn't look good on a 720p screen sadly.

Besides movie/TV shows, Apple TV has more to offer, podcast, etc.

The only thing holding me back from buying an Apple TV is the limited content at the moment being offered in the iTunes UK Store. If the movie rental thing catches on in the USA, and then gets introduced here - my money will be flying towards the nearest Apple store faster than you can say "impulse buyer".
