Thanks for explaining FriendFeed, Jonathan The nice thing about Socialthing!, as you say, is posting updates back to the services – either individually or choosing ‘all’. Quite a nice feature that may appeal to many people.

Hi Sam – you’re right, I checked through my inbox (400 something unread!) and found I was sent an invite to SocialThing on Monday – so I’ve just opened an account…

I’ve been using FriendFeed for a few months now, and it is interesting to compare the two lifestreaming services. FriendFeed is obviously in a more mature state at the moment – offering support for more services, but I’ve got a good feeling about SocialThing already.

I’m impressed with the way that SocialThing allows posting of updates back to services, also by the way in which it brings your existing contacts (from Twitter, Facebook etc) in as you join – FriendFeed requires you to ‘re-friend’ contacts. Whilst FriendFeed is interesting I can see SocialThing actually being useful…

It is a nice idea, but not sure I’ll be using it much. Like I mentioned, if you want to quickly catch up with all your services without going to the individual sites, say for example you’re not on your own computer and don’t want to login to all those seperate sites, then it’s good for that.

I just noticed another site like this – FriendFeed. Seems like they’re all the rage now. I wonder which ones will still be around this time next year

Sounds a bit like how MyBlogLog have expanded into displaying all the social networking info on your contacts, Flickr, Last.fm and Digg are just a couple i can remember

ooh ace, although I can’t quite see the point of the site. I mean I already have a desktop client for twitter, anything good on flickr is emailed to me and facebook is in my RSS reader, so I’ve already seen the stuff in this site. Plus I like having the various services separate, it stops me having information overload when working!
