Cheers for the offer, Tom. If I’m anywhere near one I’ll e-mail ya. I probably will be okay, though. I’ve passed on some of my other sites responsibility to a couple of other people, so as long as I can check my e-mail and Twitter on my iPhone then I’ll be sorted.

Hi Ashley – and thanks Got to try and keep my spirits up. Had two depressive days since finding out the gory details, but now I’m getting over that and trying to concentrate on what needs to be done. If you don’t laugh, you cry!

Thanks for the GTD app recommendations. Things looks so nice. However, it’s a bit pricey for my needs, especially the Mac app which I probably will never use on a regular basis. I know that’s not a requirement for buying the iPhone app, however.

I found one called Toodledo: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=292755387&mt=8 Looks okay, quite basic but might be okay for the few weeks I’m likely to use it. Just have to weigh up whether to pay that little bit more for a nicer app like Things.

This would be a total nightmare for me I really feel your pain! If I was to recommend a really good GTD app that u can sync with your mac and iphone it would be an app called things http://culturedcode.com/things/
Not only does it look really nice but the iphone app has identical features and it’s really easy to use once u watch the tutorial video on the site, I hope this a least helps a little. Good look with everything you’ve got to do.

Let me know if there’s a BTOpenzone hotspot near though and you can borrow my username and password to login, one of the only good things about BT Internet, I’ve got unlimited WiFi minutes for Openzone hotspots lol!

Whoooahhha, Chris, that has cheered me up a bit I must admit, haha! We got a second opinion and were also talking to a neighbour who had their rewiring done a couple of years back due to similar shenanigans. The electricians are also going to put in more power points as we don’t have enough for modern standards. All the home office has right now is one double socket so they’re going to put another one in under the desk. At least I won’t need to trail ugly extension leads all the way through the length of the office anymore.

Aye, Tom, it’s going to be quite a disruption Ah, good to know about updating apps over 3G. The parentals don’t have internet/computers, but 3G is strong there as it is at my house so at least I’ll have the iPhone for company.

The NetShare app was out long before I got my iPhone, so I didn’t bother downloading it. Ah, if I knew then what I know now.

Hey Sam, sounds like you are suffering a real nightmare at the moment. I hate when things like that interrupt your home-life

Rest assured the iPhone will update Apps fine over 3G. Don’t forget you can also buy music from the iTunes Store over 3G now

Have your parents not got Internet to use with your iMac? Maybe there’ll be an open Network about the place? It’s a shame you didn’t grab that NetShare App before it was banned from the App Store. I managed to get it!! You can tether your O2 mobile web connection through your computer, works well

Yikes! I do hope you got a second-opinion! I am very surprised your wiring is that defunct. Mid-1970′s isn’t all that long ago.

So, here’s something to cheer you up. Whatever your wiring looks like, I’ve seen worse. My parents’ house was built in the early-1890′s. No electricity then. But when electricity became the bee’s knees, the house was wired up. And it still has that wiring.

Whenever they have needed anything electrical done, such as updating to a more modern looking light fixture, the electrician gets called in. Why?

Because the wiring isn’t color coded. It all looks the same. Bare Copper Wire Wrapped in Tarred Cloth! I kid you not. Talk about a fire hazard, that’s a fire hazard. Yet the ancient wiring from the pioneering days of electricity remains.
