Challenge your friends with Plus+ Games

One of the things I love about many of the iPhone apps out there is the way you can interact with others via online multi-player with Cocoto Kart, for example, or games that have Plus+ built in. Plus+ is a social play network for the iPhone and iPod touch, bringing you, your friends and the rest of the world together so you can all challenge eachother.

One of my recently bought games, Skee-Ball by Freeverse Inc., has Plus+ built-in. Skee-Ball is super addictive – a game I used to love playing at the funfair as a child. It’s totally relived in this fantastic game which is just 59p/99c on iTunes. With Plus+ being a feature of this app, I can see what score my friends have on Skee-Ball and compete against them, aswell as check out their Awards and what other Plus+ enabled games they are playing…

With another Plus+ enabled game, Charadium, not only can I once again challenge my friends in a similar way as Skee-Ball, but I can also play against them (and the entire world) as it’s a pictionary multi-player game. If I choose to play against my Plus+ friends only then I can create a room…

…where I can then invite my friends to join me for a game of Charadium…

Charadium is priced 59p in the App Store. Other games that have the Plus+ feature are Rolando 1 & 2, Worms, Topple 2 and many more.

This is a very very good idea. It’s basically Xbox Live for the iPhone. I imagine a lot of developers will sign up to it as it takes the hassle away from them having to write their own multiplayer system.

I’d like to note that the interface is very well done, sleek and sexy, just how I like it. The Awards add a competitive streak to proceedings, much is the same way Achievements and Trophies do on the 360 and PS3 respectively.

I’ve got a feeling this is gonna be biiiig (just hope they don’t start charging in the future)

Hey Tom! Yeah, the interface is excellent. In a couple of days I’ve gone from Rookie to Experienced – I was determined to get my ranking up there! I just love the competitive side of it.

I’ve also added another couple of Plus+ games to my iPhone: Topple 2 and Train Conductor which is BRILL-IANT! It’s good to know that aswell as progressing through a game you’re also gaining points which makes everything feel more worthwhile.

I definitely hope more games get into this because it gives you more of an incentive to actually finish a game.

This looks so much fun! Currently in the middle of downloading Charadium, so we must play against each other sometime Sam. My name on it is hihiitschris.

Charadium is cool, because we had a place around here that had giant computers at every table, where you placed your order and played fun games while you waited, and it had a similar sort of game which was a lot of fun. Sadly that place is closed and I’ve missed that game so much, so it will be great to have it back!

That giant Charadium sounds excellent. The app is fun and I’ve played the quick game a few times, but sadly there’s one or two idiots around that like to be abusive. Other members report and kick them from the room, but it doesn’t seem very obvious how to do that. Be great if we could get a few players around at one time and have a game in our own room.

It’s the same concept as OpenFeint. Most notable app would have to be Mingore, amongst my circle of friends.

Does Plus+ connect to Twitter or Facebook to post in-game progression? OpenFeint features this.

I think it’s a great concept to include in iPhone games. The only problem, having to subscribe to many services that accomplish the same task. It’s too bad there isn’t one standard API for game developers to use to handle this, but I guess that would diminish competition and creativity.

No, Plus+ doesn’t allow you to post your progress on social sites.
