…if there was a Mac app out there which would show a notification on your computer screen when you’d missed a call to your iPhone while it’s docked?

I was just thinking this today when having to leave my iPhone docked after it completely ran out of juice during the night. I haven’t been at the computer much today but have occasionally popped up to have a look at the iPhone screen to see whether I’d missed any calls. How convenient would it be to come up and see a Growl-style notification message on your Mac (that stays there until you close it) letting you know.

I would pay good money for that.

Sam, totally with you here. I used to use a great app which connected via Bluetooth to my old SE 600i (something like that!), and enabled me to write texts etc on the Mac.

Surely there must be someone writing this app!? If not, someone needs to!

I totally agree. And think Steve’s “mumbling mumbling” about these thinghs ;)

  4. hi Sam I too have been thinking this would be a great idea for time. With my old phones they either had a flashing light on to tell me of a recent event or I could look on the stand by screen to see what’s new. I don’t like that u have to turn the iphone on to view new things on the screen. I think a mac app that linked to the iPhone would be something someone or apple should really start working on as it would be used by everyone I reckon. The app that Jon refers to is probably bluephone elite a great app that really linked your phone well to the mac. I’d wish for a SMS input on the mac as a big feature too and SMS Reading.

Back then I remember you can use any BT phone and it will talk to your Mac Address Book. Since the BT is so locked down on the iPhone, this feature is MIA.

I often miss calls while my iPhone is in my pocket, the vibration is pretty weak.

Ashley - great shout! It was indeed Bluephone Elite. Cool little app.

We need SMS integration, name / photo which comes up on screen etc.

Ribbit (just bought by BT) is a VERY cool company whose App called Amphibian does this kind of thing but through VOIP. I met them at FOWA a few weeks ago, and are looking to launch in the UK sometime in 2009/2010.

Great feature suggestions, guys. Having SMS integration on the Mac would be excellent aswell. Now I really *really* want this :D

Jon, Ribbit looks absolutely fantastic! That’s exactly the kind of thing we need for the iPhone > Mac. I hope somebody somewhere is working on this and it will be available soon.
